I like to do what most people do at the end of the year.. you know, the classical 'look back on the year' thing. I like to look back on all the great movies made this year. :) If you have different opinions, just comment below. I love feedback. :) Anyway, here's my opinion in the top 5 movies of 2009.
#1)
Julie & Julia
(rated PG-13) For the people who have seen this movie, you can probably imagine why I love it. First of all, I am a huge fan of Julia Child. She is so amazing, I love her recipes, and I get her cookbooks whenever I can. Second, I have just been to Paris and in this movie, Julia Child goes to Paris. Third, Julie starts a blog. See the connections? It's totally my type of movie. Very funny, many moms would love it. Especially moms who like cooking. :) I connect to this movie so much. My favorite quote from this movie: Julie (Amy Adams) lying on the floor in her kitchen all sad, "There's all of this stuff on the floor!!" And then they show a little clip of the actual Julia Child on TV in black and white and she drops something on the floor. "Uh!! Never apologize." I say that all the time when I drop something when I drop something when I cook. Oh Julia. :)
#2)
Up
(rated PG) Everyone's heard of the unique movie of aventure with the floating house and the talking talk and the old man. Many people see this movie as a silly little adventure, but it's actually a very good movie. See that old man kicking his right foot like a karate dude and the horror expresion on his face? In the beginning, I don't mean to spoil, but I think you should all know this. In the beginning, it shows that old old man as a kid who wanted to explore everything. He met his love when he was little in the adventure club he was in. She died later on when the little boy grew to be old. They never got to do their life long adventure they had always dreamed. But he didn't give up.
#3)
Coraline
(rated PG) I love this movie. It's a movie about imagination, and discovering things (like doors..) and parallel worlds. This movie is so creative, anything can happen. Coraline explores her house to find a little door that leads to a parallel world, a dream come true. Everything is fun, and bubbley, and at some parts, completely unrealistic and fantasy world. Living trees, talking cats, a garden with loads of fun. The parallel world almost reminds me of Dr. Suess, that creative happy feeling. A wonderful adventure.
#4)
Hotel for Dogs
(rated PG) I love that line at the top of the picture, 'No Stray Gets Turned Away'. As you can see, this movie is all about saving strays who've been left behind and showing dogs that we care, and we'll do anything to keep them safe. Everyone loves dogs and cares for them, so most people enjoy this movie. I, myself am a bit scared of dogs, at least the large nonstop barking kind, but that's just me. I love this movie because it's like dogs are family to them. A movie for the whole family to enjoy, even your dog.
#5)
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel
(rated PG) Who doesn't love the adorable singing chipmunks? Well now they're back, in a 'squeakquel' as they like to call it. :) I just recently saw this movie and it was pretty good. I liked how all of a sudden the whole thing started with the 'chipettes' that was pretty neat. They are so cute! If you liked Alvin and The Chipmunks, then you will love this movie.
