Obama's Miracle!

Guess what? I'm sure you already know this, but I'm writing it anyway! Obama just became president! On exactly January 20th, 12:00 PM. (Inauguration Day)

We got to watch it at school! The janitors fixed the TV's in our classrooms so we could watch it while we eat lunch. I decided to eat my cookie VERY slowly during Barack Obama's speech. I ate like, one tiny little crumb per minute. Eventually, I couldn't stand it anymore and just gobbled it down. If you're me, and I love chocolate, and you have a mouth watering chocolate chip cookie in your hands and you try to eat it slowly, it's kind of hard. Anyway, I can't believe John Roberts screwed up the thing Obama is supposed to say to swear into office. I think he got 'truthfully' or something like that in the wrong place. Use cue cards if you have to!

I thought Barack Obama's speech was awesome amazing! The word choice, how he structured it, he's outstanding at giving speeches.

This is huge. About 100 years ago, black people like Obama were treated VERY cruelly. This was a terrible time in American history. Black people had to go to different schools that the white, and the white had many more privileges. And now, look at us! Voting for a black president and he WINS! This is a huge miracle. Like he said in his earlier speech, change has come to America.

Just because Barack Obama is now president, that doesn't mean discrimination has come to an end. I still see it in school, and sometimes in public. Bullying is also included. This is a terrible thing, and we should not do it. It is wrong, it hurts people, and it creates a dissaster. We should not be proud of when we tease a person because of the color of their skin. To see an example of discrimination, click here. It is about a third grade teacher who teaches her students about discrimination, and puts it to action. This one has nothing to do with your skin color, but your eye color instead. The Have you ever heard the saying, 'Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.' ? Well that's false. Words can hurt, and they can hurt bad. Whether they are written in an e-mail, said on the phone, or in person. We need to stop it. So pass it on. Stop the bullying, stop the discrimination!
