The Lightning Thief

Have you heard of The Lightning Thief? If not, then here you go! I would totally recommend it for 5th graders. It's an excellent book so far for me- I'm just about halfway into it. It has a lot to do with the Greek gods and goddesses.

The Lightning Thief is about a boy named Percy Jackson who got kicked out of boarding school- for like the sixth time now. Tons of Greek 'monsters' have been looking for him, trying to kill him, I think. Because he's a half blood. It's a tad confusing, if you ask me. His best friend, Grover, has to protect Percy and get him to safety. The minotaur, half god half bull, tracks down Percy with his mother on vacation- and things go terribly wrong. It's very addicting!!

Don't miss the sea of monsters, the second book in the amazing series. The Titan's Curse is the 3rd in the bunch, and believe it or not, there's a fourth: The Battle Of The Labyrinth. Read them all! They're great. :-)

Also, for those of you that have already read these four books, keep your eyes peeled for the 5th, and final book of the series: "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Last Olympian". The book will be released on May 5th, 2009.
