Hello! Sorry I haven't published in a while.. I've been so busy with Halloween- and other stuff.
I carved a kitty in my pumpkin this year. Why? Because!! I love cats. Not just an 'I love Cats' person. I'm a huge fan of them. NO, I don't have posters all over my room saying, 'I love cats!' or anything like that. That doesn't mean I'm crazy for cats. I read the Warriors series, by Erin Hunter. Now my favorite series!! I have a kitty key chain, I love to go to the website www.Icanhascheezburger.com that has tons of funny pics of cats, a kitty mask I never wear anymore, I love to play and act like wild kitties with my friends, I was a kitty for Halloween last year, I have 2 hooks that you hang on the wall that looks like the back of a kitty- the tail is the hook! And of course- I have kitties. One's completely gray, named Pudge. I think he's some sort of mutt. Same with my other cat, who's completely black except for on his belly, his paws, and parts of his face and neck. His name is Pesky. I have a lot more to do with cats, you know. I just choose not to list them. (I plan to make a collage of cat's faces out of magazines, too!)
You'll never guess what I was this year. And since you'll never guess, I well tell you: cotton candy. Funny, right? Imagine going up to the door and finding someone dressed up as cotton candy!! Lots of families thought my costume was so unique and funny. But the only thing I didn't quite like about the costume- I was SO sweaty in it. I had a pink shirt, and pink leggings. Yeah.. not very poofy. Don't worry. Over that, I had a white blank shirt, and short white pants. We attached this super fluffy fabric to the white shirt, all over. We did a little bit on the hips of the pants, but left the rest plain for the cone. Last touches: a super long, fluffy pink scarf my cousin made for me. (Thanks, Jen!!) That really helped get all the poofiness on my shirt yet away from the shirt. It was sort of uncomfortable, considering I was so hot with all the layers on, and the shirt itched a little. It's worth all the candy, considering I got a LOT!!
Guess how many pieces I got. Guess! Over 100. Like 145, to be exact!! And there where tons of families giving out king size this year in my neighborhood. I got 2 king size Twizzlers, one king size Skittles, one king size CRUNCH bar, one king size Hersheys (without almonds), a couple king size Snickers, one king size Twix (I love twix!!), one king size Whoppers, and I think that's all. And oh my gosh there was SO many little fun sized packets of m&m's out there!! SO MANY!
Hope you had a happy Halloween! By the way, what do you think of the pictures up top? I think the one where the big pumpkin eating a smaller pumpkin is just hilarious!! Poor tiny pumpkin.
Guess what? My first Red Sox game was just a couple months ago- and it was fantastic. Fantastic, man!!
Red Sox vs. Texas Rangers, August 14, 2008.
We had planned for this months ahead. My oldest brother, Sam, has been to a game. So has Ben, my other brother. And now it was my turn! My dad has a friend who gave us tickets- and I forget why- but yipee! We didn't have to buy them from him! Cause I think you know how expensive those babies are. We got seats in the first row of the grandstand!!
So we're in the Subway. (I decided to fast forward to this part since the part before is just a long car ride you don't want to hear about.) And you know how we have those Charlie Card things? My dad kept sticking the money in the machine- but it kept spitting it out for no good reason! Then my dad stuck in a 'better' bill. It took it! Man, that machine is a picky one. Just one more bill. Spit! He didn't have any other 'better' bills of that kind! Oh no! Luckily it finally took it, thank god. I bet if there was someone that had a job to process the money and such'n'such, it would be all like, 'Oh! This actually IS a $5 bill. I couldn't see it's so dark in here!'
After the Charlie Card indecent, we took a few trains to Boston. The last one that actually took us to Boston was SO CROWDED. I had to stand up and hold onto the bar attached to someones seat. How safe. Whenever the train started we all jerked and leaned backward- my point? Not the best train ride. It's funny because when we got to the subway, it was poring rain. But after we're out of the subway, it's nice and bright + sunny!!
Before we went to the gates, I wanted to get a souvenir. You know, so I don't have to pick when I x-treamly tired after the game. That place had everything! Hats, player tee's, sweatshirts, fleeces, and all those little key chains for your backpack and little magnets for your fridge. On my fridge, we don't put a whole bunch of magnets that hold nothing, we put a whole bunch of wacky magnets that hold pictures. But we had enough magnets. And I knew I wanted a sweatshirt, so that narrowed it down to still a lot of options. They had red sweatshirts, navy blue sweatshirts, light pink sweatshirts, and all those colors in fleece form, and zip up sweatshirt form. !! So many options, I didn't know what to pick. I'm not really what you'd call the pink girl. I'm more like greens & blues. So... that narrowed it down to either a navy blue zip up sweatshirt, sweatshirt, or fleece. I didn't want the pull-over-your-head sweatshirt, mainly because I don't like those styles, and second, it always messes up my hair. And I just happened to be one of those girls who really care about how their hair looks. Soo.. I didn't really need a fleece, and sorta wanted a sweatshirt kind of thing in my closet. So we got the blue zip up sweatshirt, and a light green cap with a white 'B' on it. :-) Thanks, dad!
We where second in line at the gates. Second! Honestly, I didn't want to be first. I don't know why! But being second was cool with me. So we stand. And wait. And stand some more. While waiting. For a long while. Until FINALLY the gates opened. We had to go through this bag check thing, witch was done in a flash. Once we where in the stadium, I was all shocked because it looked MUCH bigger than on T.V. we found our seats, and like I said, it was in like the first row of the grandstand! Right under the roof. It was a PERFECT view. I decided as another exclusive souvenir, I chipped off a part of the old blue pant on the bottom of my chair. No one would notice! I had gotten a very special piece of Fenway. And I still have it!
Before the game started, we went down below to get some dinner. I decided on pizza, because hot dogs just aren't filling enough. Seriously! And nacho's, I dunno. A little too filling if you ask me. So we got two pizza's, one cheese and one pepperoni. Not those big ones that come on trays, but those little ones that are cut into fourths that come in a box. Surprisingly, there wasn't any batting practice going on when we arrived. Whatever. We ate, while I gazed around the stadium.
It wasn't my first time here. I had gone to Fenway as a field trip in 3rd grade. Sadly, it wasn't a game. Just a tour, but hey! We got to go on the green monster! THE GREEN MONSTER!! I had basically seen what it was like to sit in almost every seat at a game. Although the tour was rushed for some reason, because our tour guide was all like, 'Come on now, hurry up! We don't have all day..' But that was 2 years ago. It was different. They painted some seats green, and I'm pretty sure that even that blue one in the middle of all those red ones witch are now green. They need to repaint the grandstand seats! They're all crackly with little chips of paint coming off.
Soon after a few people got seated behind us, the game began. First, they announced who's playing where and all that jazz. Matsuzaka, (I really hope that's spelled right) was pitching!! He's like my second or third fav. player. Did I tell you that Kevin Youkilis (I hoped I spelled that right to) is my favorite player? Well, now you know!!
The Red Sox scored 9 innings in the bottom of the second!!! We had finished our pizzas buy now, and were munching on some peanuts, having the pizza boxes for the shell-catchers. The crowd was going wild for the Red Sox to make it to 10 in one inning, but they failed. Don't worry. The Texas Rangers were at 0! We were kicking their butts! I really wanted them to score more, of course. But at the same time I couldn't wait until the inning was over- because then my dad said we could get some dessert! And who doesn't love a sweet treat while watching the Red Sox win at Fenway Park?
Once the inning was over, we waved the Red Sox flag we had gotten. We waved it in between every inning!! Anyway, we headed down to get some fried dough. My brother, Ben, before we left to the game said that we shouldn't get the soft serve ice cream, because it's hollow. My dad decided to get it anyway. He didn't believe my brother, but I did. That's why I got fried dough, and because I just love fried dough. Who doesn't? So we're waiting in the dessert line. And we're waiting...and waiting......and waiting some more until finally the woman behind the counter asked us, 'How may I help you?' And it was so funny because he ordered fried dough and a chocolate and vanilla swirl soft serve, but all this place served was soft serve ice cream!! The fried dough was right next door. Luckily, the line wasn't too long. It was only 5 people. I kept trying to tell my dad his ice cream was hollow, while we were waiting, and he still didn't believe me. Ha! Right when he said he didn't believe me, he hit the hollow part of the ice cream. He's all like, 'Oh! Oh, my! It really is hollow!!' And I kept laughing at that guy. Once we got my fried dough, we went over to the table where you could put all the powder, sugar, and cinnamon you wanted!! I loved the powder and sugar, but when my dad tried to sprinkle the cinnamon on, WAY to much came out of that thing!! So we sorta scooped most of it into a nearby napkin and sorta dropped in the trash bin. There was still a lot of the cinnamon left over, and I still had all that delicious sugar and powder to chow down with the dough!!
We where back in our seats, top of the third inning. My dad still couldn't believe his ice cream was hollow! Believe it, man! The Texas Rangers scored nothing. Yay!! Same with the top of the fourth (I'd gotten a Fenway Frank during then- yummy in my tummy! I gave my dad a few bites- he deserved it), fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth!! They scored NOTHING the whole game! So.. the score wasn't 9-0. It was 10-0. Because the Red Sox really rubbed it in the Ranger's faces! They scored in the bottom of the eighth inning, leaving Fenway Park screaming in joy.
Behind the scenes: When I was like 5 or 6, my dad taught me how to play t-ball. I was on the Cardinals! It was funny, because whenever we played the minor league Red Sox, I felt like I was really playing the Red Sox. During my first practice, at this big field where we usually wouldn't practice, I caught one of my first balls. And it had been in the newspaper! A picture of the 6-year-old me, making a big wide open smile on my face with the ball nice and snug in the glove. Back then, I sorta knew about strikes, balls, and all that. But I never found out what was a ball until I was about 9 years old, playing softball.
I started out on a team that only had practices, because there wasn't enough girls to make the team. We called ourselves 'The Flaming Fireballs' or something like that, because our jerseys where orange. Honestly, I think that's just a very weird name. Cause if we're the flaming fireballs, how are we supposed to hit the ball if we're just going to burn it? Then all that would be left for the players to catch would be the ashes! Seriously. Anyway, it was good practice. Because I played next year, too. And that time, I was in green jerseys in the Orioles. I always thought the Orioles are supposed to be in orange jerseys, like the one I had the year before. Whatever. I made the team that time, and I was pretty good! And I really liked it, too. So I played this year. Now, I'm on 'The Rockets'. Interesting name, I'd say. At least we're not the teddy bears. Our uniforms were yellow, surprising enough. I didn't even know they made yellow uniforms! But all those years, except for t-ball, I was number 12. I couldn't be number twelve in t-ball, because the highest number they had was 10. I was 9. But these experiences have taught me about baseball, and what it's all about. And it turns out I really love it. Witch is why I support the Red Sox very much, and that I might be able to be on the Red Sox one day, whether they like a girl on their team or not. Go Red Sox!!
Back to the story: The game had ended, everyone cheering and happy that the Red Sox had done it again. The part after this is just a few train rides and car rides back home, so I fast forward to me being totally exhausted at home. ---> So, I was totally exhausted at home. I fell asleep around 2 in the morning- thank GOD this was not a school night!! If it was, I would've fallen asleep during the math quiz. Of course, I slept in A LOT the next morning.
I don't think this was one of those games where they make it super dramatic, It was one of those games where they like to just win win win and shove it in the other team's face and show off how good and awesome they are. Hehee!
P.S.
Dear Dad, Thanks SO much for taking me to that awesome Red Sox game!! It was totally fun!! I loved going, 'YOOOOOOOOUK!!' so much for my fav. player. Thanks so much!! YOOOOOOOOUK!! LOL
P.P.S.
Who saw the game on the 16th?! Who was AT the game on the 16th?! I'll tell you this: My dad was!! And he was playing a video right when the action happened, right when they won. Incredible, outstanding come back!! Here's the video: It's a little long, but you'll see it. Don't worry.
Remember post called 'Sebago Lake, Maine'? I went back there again in August- and it was totally awesome! Roasting marshmallows and spending time with great friends. My friend had gotten a jet ski for the lake house. We tried it, and it can do a lot of cool things. The only problem with this trip: I came back limping. Read my point of view of how started limping. Trust me: it's very interesting!!
I just came back from tubing, and my friend wanted to try it. I offered to spot in the back of the jet ski. He was happy, I was happy he was happy, and his mum offered to drive, the rest going inside. Now, we didn't have my friend go in the tube before we started the boat. In fact, we where going to have him get in the tube once we where in the appropriate waters. It was my job to hold the tube in the back so it wouldn't go so far, and would make it easier for my friend to get in the tube. So we're just going slow, and my friend's mom speeds up just a little bit. Here's when it happens. Get on the edge of your seat!
The tube jerked, pulling me forward a little, but I still had the tube in my hands. It was if the tube wanted me to let go of it! Because it pulled me into the water head first!! Now you're probably wondering what that has to do with my legs. Well, not only did I get pulled off the jet ski, but my legs got tangled on the rope that the tube was attached to. Ouch!!!! It also scraped a little bit on my hands, and on the upper part of my leg, too. The good news is that the rope burn happened while my leg was underwater, so that was VERY refreshing. Anyway, it seemed like after all the action happened was when they realized I wasn't on the boat. My friend's mum made a super turn back to where I was. There was enough rope so I didn't get jerked anymore, thankfully. Surprisingly, I actually managed to get myself back on the boat again with a little help. Honestly, It felt like I had just broken a bone somewhere behind my knee on the lower part. Now that it was out of the water into the air, it stung a little. My friend's mum was so shocked, and she drove the boat back to the lake house. I held on to her, trying to realize what just happened. A video was playing in my head of what had happened, and it was set to repeat. It was so scary!!
It was all so weird!! When we had to replace the bandage,---you don't want to know.
I didn't dare to look behind my leg. But I wanted to SO bad!! So I did. Right behind my knee was a big patch of blood, right in the middle of the leg. I stopped looking. It was disgusting! My friend's dad went to C.V.S. looking for some sort of bandage or something. The other friend told jokes for entertainment, and I didn't know what to think. I couldn't quite straiten it, because it killed where the rope had struck. So I sorta just kept it in one position, and sorta walking with it not changing it's position at all. It was like learning how to walk again! Only this time my brother wasn't there. Or my parents. Then I though: What would my parents say?? I didn't like that thought, because I loved to be with this family.
The rest of the weekend went pretty swell, considering I didn't get any other minor/major injury. We also got to watch a movie, and got to have gum, to. My friend's brother, Konner, chose the same gum as me. Then we started to do this thing where we hold our gum and do like a hi-five with the gum packs touching, while we say, 'Yeah!' in a high-pitched voice. Then we did that forever. Now whenever we get the same gum packs, that's just what we do. Yeah!
Rating of the weekend: 1-10: 8 Because if there's an injury, that minuses at least 2 points, depending on the injury. But still- I had a GREAT time!!
After I got home, I had to go to the doctors. Aww! They told me to take of the dressing and bandage. I'd never done that before!! Only my friend's mum has!! It came of much easier than the first time we had to remove it. Then they told me I'd see a different dr. today, because mine was on vacation. It looked like they where a bit disgusted, but I think since they're doctors, this is nothing to them. Well, maybe not nothing. But a medium-sized thing. They said I had to go to P.T. witch stands for physical therapy. My dad told me the physical therapist would help straiten my leg, so it wouldn't leave a scar and blabity blah blah blah something something.
P.T. was actually really fun! The dude there understood that I couldn't go from keeping it in one position to straitening it perfectly in one day, witch made my stress go byebye! We just did some exersizes with a rolled up towel under my leg. Thankfuly, none of this required to take of my new bandage and dressing! He also did a walking exersize with me, witch was one step closer to walking normally! We did this for a couple of weeks, and I walked perfectly!
The joy of choosing wallpaper, paints, furniture, and accessories. Just the color of them all and putting them together like a puzzle is what I really enjoy doing. REALLY. Choosing what color combinations to use in what room, and to choose if it should be a bold or soft background. Selecting what goes on the wall, such as a very pretty rug, or funky shelves and picture frames. I want to be an interior designer when I grow up.
Now I have had some experience, and am about to get more. You see, my room is a very important room to me. It's where I do my homework, knit, write my idea's for the web, read, listen to myTunes (a C.D. I burned with all my favorite songs from Kiss 108 on it. Like the name?!), it's where I go when I want privacy, where me and my friends hang out, I do some of my craft projects there, go to bed, and it's where my imagination explodes. (No one can be in the room except me when THAT happens.)
So.. I'd like the room where I do all this to look nice. It used to be white, mix and messy. My favorite color is turquoise, green, and blue. At first, we where going to paint the room turquoise, but what if I got tired of that color? My mum said it should be some background color. I also needed a new desk chair since the one I had did NOT fit my style. It was a big, black leather chair. Right.. I was also in need of some interesting turquoise sheets.. but where can you find all of this?? At my #1 favorite store: Ikea. I love that store. It's like- an interior designers dream.
That store has the best!! They display it in the showrooms, and if you would like to buy it, you write it down on this cute little piece of paper, and then you pick it up in the gigantic box room. Great system, don't you think?
So... my mom and I went shopping last August at my number one favorite store. That place was AWESOME!!! Even so it was only my second time there. I also love Ikea because they just have this style that I LOVE. The bloopity blop chillin' style touch on their stuff that makes it so.. so.. I dunno! So cool! But cool doesn't describe it. Neither does awesome. I think... either extraordinary, or supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. What do you think?
It didn't take too long to pick out a new desk chair. First, I wanted something squishy and comfy to sit on. That narrowed it down to about 4 options. One option was one of those bowl-shaped chairs. If you don't get what I mean, I don't blame you. Just take a plastic bowl out of your kitchen cabinet and hold it facing the way it usually faces: right side up. Now, holding your plastic bowl in the hands of you, tilt it a little bit. Imagine that being big enough for you to sit in with a bunch of fluffy cushioney stuff inside of it- big enough so there's a backrest to sink into. Keep imagining while you imagine that there is legs attached to it. That's what kind of chair it is. I love those kind of chairs, but if that was my desk chair, I wouldn't even THINK about my homework. Not even look at it. I would just sink into the loveliness of that chair and daydream about ice cream all day. Then my mom or dad would find me and break the doors of my beautiful daydream and say, 'What the-- is your homework done? Why have you been sitting there gazing of into space so long?!' So.. that chair was disqualified from the options. Next, they had a bunch of those gigantic office chairs with black leather exactly like the kind I had. Those where kicked of the options, too. Those chairs are meant for big people who work all day sitting on their butts- not little 10 year old girls dreaming about ice cream. So what else is on the options list? There was a small chair with a little pillow on in with uncomfortable arm rests and back rests. Off the list. After all those disqualifications, mum and I were just roaming around, wondering what else could be a possible solution. You know those chairs that have little dents in it marking where you're supposed to sit? I dislike those chairs. They had two of them, and I didn't like them for there plasticness and seat-carvings. We roamed around some more, and then I saw it. That was it. I sat in it, and the padding of the seat was a 7.5 for a rating 1-10. Back rest? Arm rests? The back rest was sort of see through, but not exactly. No armrests are included with this amazing offer! Must be 18 years or older to order. Ha! Turned that into a commercial for a sec- a bad one. Commercials that want money don't say what the product doesn't have! Getting to the point...please be patient..ding! I thought it was perfect! The padding came in blue, pink, or black. Who cares? We can change it to whatever color or pattern we want! With a little sewing technique, a sewing machine that works, and your brain, it can happen! So, we wrote down the item # on the cute little piece o' paper and moved on.
We started heading for the bedding. Unlike the desk chairs, we were looking for a very specific bedding- guess what? It was like the first one that we saw in the bedding section. Most of the bedding sets you could just pick up in these wrapped packages because they were to small to be picked up in the big box room. And guess what? The bedding we were planning to get was one of the few that you could pick up! Plop! Into our big yellow bag. That was easy- easier than Staples!
Another thing we were looking for is some decorative rug to go on the wall. All we could really find was some super colorful rug that was just TOO BIG for my wall. So, we ended up taking 3 table runners. 2 turquoise, one white. The plan was to glue them on a long wooden pole and then hang the pole up on the wall. Plop! Into our big yellow bag. Guess what? The bedding and the table runners became friends!
While we were looking for the chairs, we noticed some baskets that might fit in my brand new closet. We took a couple, and plopped them into the bag too. I decided that would be the parents of the bedding.
Another thing we saw that really grabbed our attention chick was this super fuzzy turquoise rug. OMG! That thing did not belong on the wall. Mum asked if I wanted it- and yes I did want it- it would make the perfecto touch in my room! So we rolled it up and stuffed it in the big yellow bag- there wasn't much of a plop, it was more like a soft 'thunk'.
Last but not least- a lamp for my side table near my bed. Actually, we preferred a floor lamp. Have you ever been to Ikea's lamp section? No? It's HUGE, man, HUGE! There were tiny tiny lamps, super fancy table lamps, boring white floor lamps, wacky floor lamps, simple table lamps, decorative lamps, and even the world of candle holders was there! I suggested one of the super wacky decorative floor lamps, but decoration was not the key, in this case. This was specifically going to be a reading and writing light. Sure, It could have some cute decorative touches, but I think you know what I mean. Mum pointed out a white floor lamp that had a cool cone metal shade- and one of those snakey necks were you can move it into what ever position you want! Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the color. Then I pointed out a green one exactly like the white one. I like it, mum like it, we write it! (On the cute little piece of paper.)
Shopping: check. Stomach: not check. We rush to the cafeteria! Now this part is funny because I was like- the only kid that was eating an open face sandwich with salad, sliced egg, and shrimp on it. All the other kids were having mac & cheese or chicken nuggets with fries. I felt so grown up and happy!
After lunch, we picked a few candles to go in the kitchen (We were in great need of candles- the tea kind) and started to the giant box room. My big strong mum managed to get the boxes and shove it on the big box cart, with the big yellow bag dangling from one of the hooks- that didn't seem so big anymore since it was hanging next to a giant chair and lamp. Poor big yellow bag. Mum walked over to one of the cash register stations and asked me to push the cart over. !!! That thing was impossible to push! Although it actually was possible, I managed to shove the heavy load sorta near the cash register station. Whatever- that was close enough.
After a whole bunch of 'meep!' 'meep!' 'meep!' -ing, we head out the door. That was just the trip to Ikea! Wait until the actual construction begins with the whole painting and building process!! Coming soon to your computer: Construction: The Designers Way part two of the whole big story!
