Several weeks ago my friend took me to Sebago lake, Maine. Oh my gosh, it was so amazing I have to share the experience with you.
The lake was amazing. It was too cold to swim in, but that did not ruin my weekend at all. The sight was amazing from the lake house we stayed at, especially at night time. All the little lights far off in the distance, the sunset, everything.
When we got to the lake house, we settled into our rooms, and my friend taught me how to fish out on their dock while the parents prepared dinner. (They were making a bonfire!) I've actually never fished before in my life, so it was very amazing to me. It took me a while to get used to the proses. Pulling the string down around your finger, pushing the lever thing down, pulling back, and swinging it forward to let go of the string.
After dinner, I practiced fishing some more.
Later on, we made smores! At first we weren't quite sure exactly how to cook them. I suggested burning the marshmallow in the fire until it was golden-brown, and then squash it in the middle of the chocolate + gram crackers. That's how we did most of our 'sticky sandwich's' until the parents said we could melt the chocolate on a spatula. I did that with the same golden-brown marshmallow, and I got a very sticky face after that, but it was very yummy-in-my-tummy!! If you ever want to do smores, for the yummiest taste, melt the chocolate on a spatula (but be careful! Ask an adult if you're 9 or under for help.) and burn the marshmallow until it's golden-brown. Squish between two gram crackers and there's your sticky sandwich ready to eat! Just be sure to have a small stack of napkins near bye. :-)
We stuffed ourself- somehow and started gathering leaves to throw in the fire for some of nature's fireworks. My friend's brother got a HUGE ball of leaves and tossed it all in. It looked so amazing right after the sun went down.
Several minutes later, the snoozing began.
The morning was like one of those 'free' mornings where you could basically do anything until everyone's up. We watched about a quarter of a movie (I forget the name) until the parents woke up and prepared pancakes- another one of those yummy-in-my-tummy times!
We played Scrabble a little later, and then the parents where going to go canoing and I decided to go along with them. As soon as we where ready, it started to rain. Whatever! It was very fun- and wet. We went down it to some brook place and a little caterpillar landed on my head. Now, you might have thought that I freaked out, but no! I did the exact opposite! I turned it around and thought about what the little tiny gray caterpillar was thinking when all of a sudden- it lands in this weird tan land with giant brown strings sticking up. It reminded me of Christopher Columbus. So I named the little gray caterpillar Caterpee Columbus. I think he liked my head, but all of a sudden, the brown strings went away! I put him on my hand while trying to not fling him when I fished. We where soaked when we all got out of the canoe. It was really fun, and I caught a stick and a strand of grass.
We also went shopping at Wall Mart after a while. That was my very first trip to Wall Mart. That was a very fun time. We looked and each got something that said 'Maine' on it. I got a cute stuffed moose that had a pink sweatshirt that said 'Maine' on it. :-) :-) Also, we got these t-shirts that where made out of recycled Coke bottles. I got a large black one that says 'Enjoy Coke' on it. Yes, I do enjoy it. You know what I enjoyed better? This whole trip.
